Hello There.

Call me Janya. I was born and raised in Rajkot, Gujarat, India where I began to learn Indian Vocals (Hindustani classical) and semi-classical dance. I began training in other danceforms (Garba, Contemporary) and soon after was part of a Theatre and dance company performing in Agra, Pune and Thailand. I soon learnt to roller skate and was part of multiple group dances mixing formation work and skating. I acted in my first full-length play as the protagonist when I was 13, in a performance-arts competition held by Akhil Bhartiya Sanskritik Sangh in Agra. I sang in my community, and tried to paint and write and I liked it so stuck with it. I moved to the United States in September 2022 to train as an actor at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles. You know, I just, like went to school and wrote. After Graduation, I wrote, made all the art for, produced and performed a one-woman show called Convenience as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2024; another experimental, multimedia theatre piece exploring the character's relationship with reality and her mind's depth. I am trying to make my body mean art, and performance become a show of post-modernity just in the way I, and the world already havebegun doing in art. And there is that. Have fun lookin 'round. Love ya.
